The CPU's courses and workshops are designed to help working journalists improve their own standards and those of their newspaper.

Papua New Guinea, June 2000 |
Courses are tailor-made according to the needs of the delegates. We assess the needs and devise the training. Over 400 Commonwealth journalists benefit from our training activities every year.

Our programme of training courses is principally funded by the Commonwealth Media Development Fund (CMDF) whose main contributor is the British government. In addition, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, many Foundations, institutions, publishing groups, offices fo the British Council, diplomatic missions and corporations support the CPU Commonwealth Press Training & Education Trust.

The training is conducted either by senior working journalists or freelance consultants with successful track records in their specialist areas.
Please note that only journalists working fulltime for newspapers and news agencies in membership of the CPU are eligible to take part in our training courses.
See the
Diary of Training Events for an up-to-date list of courses due to take place in the coming year.
