The Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC) incorporated in 1937, is the oldest and largest producer of oil and gas in Nigeria. The company operates a Joint Venture, with the Federal Government holding a majority share of 55 per cent; Shell, 30 per cent; Elf, 10 per cent; and Agip, 5 per cent.
SPDC produces almost half of Nigeria’s crude oil, and supplies over 75% of the country’s commercial gas from 94 producing fields and 87 flow stations, through 6,200 kilometres of pipelines and two major export terminals in Bonny and Forcados.
