A badge in old hands recalls many happy and sad experiences of the past. On 31 August 1957, my country achieved independence. Tunku Abdul Rahman, who led a delegation of Malayan ministers and political leaders in negotiations with the British for Merdeka or 'Independence', spearheaded the independence movement. He became the first Prime Minister of Malaysia.
