The hardest part was persuading five year-old Gaby Allen to stop smiling. Everything else seemed to fall into place - the fancy dress with the flag and the crown that the children of Hugglescote Primary School had made that day.
I wanted a picture to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee that captured the traditions of the Commonwealth (the Union Jack and the crown) and the promise of youth - half the Commonwealth is after all, under the age of 30. Finally, Gaby stopped smiling.
