The photo I have chosen was taken in Accra, Ghana, in 2003. This was a great lesson for me in gratitude, especially as I come from a more affluent state of the Commonwealth.

My eye was drawn to the woman in pink and then I saw her child, completely covered in soap. Their location, just standing in the street, next to a vendors stall, is an unusual juxtaposition. It embodies for me care in the community, in the face of poverty and need.
