Through the ages, the youth of this world have been the genesis of social and political change. In the 1960s and 70s, the Vietnam War brought student protests to the fore, placing enormous pressure on the governments of the day.
In 2003, worldwide protests against war in Iraq saw students again raising their voices in opposition to the conflict. Sixteen-year-old student and peace protester, Olivia Mullard, took a day off school to participate in an anti-Iraq war protest rally in Adelaide, South Australia in March 2003.
With her pierced tongue and fluorescent face paint, she displays the hope and freedom of youth, which we seem to lose, as we grow older.
