The 52* countries of the Commonwealth contain a vast and rapidly growing media industry. From the smallest island newssheet to the largest national broadcaster, these countries contain some of the very best media in the world A number of countries have a justly respected press, and Canada's CBC, Australia's ABC and the UK's BBC are extraordinary examples of oustanding public service broadcasting services.
Even in the smallest African country, the internet has made enormous impact and mmost newspapers in the Commonwealth now have an online edition as well as a print edition. Multi-media sites profilerate and the interent phenomenom has ensured that even the most remote outpost now can communicate with the world.
