The three, very different, Commonwealth island nations of the Indian Ocean are well served with a diverse and influential media. Due to the significant distances involved in the two archipelagos, most have relied on radio as the main medium but now with the advent of the internet, online versions of their daily and weekly papers are widely available in both The Maldives and The Seychelles. Mauritius has an influential and highly professional newspaper industry which easily compares with its larger brothers on the mainland of both India and Africa.
