Port of Spain is the host city for the 2009 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). From 27-29 November, Heads of Government, their representatives and ministers will be attending the biannual summit to review global, political and economic developments and to conduct a strategic overview of the Commonwealth's work in support of member countries.
The objective of the Summit is to engage leaders of the Commonwealth in discussing global and Commonwealth issues and to agree upon collective policies and initiatives.
All nations, regardless of size, have an equal say and vote at this meeting. All CHOGM decisions and initiatives are reached only by consensus.
Alongside CHOGM there are many other events including the Commonwealth Business Forum, the Commonwealth Youth Forum and the Commonwealth People's Forum.
