In order to apply for any of the CPU Fellowships, you must be a journalist
working full-time for a newspaper which is in membership of the CPU. The CPU is also unable to offer any scholarships or fellowships other than those given below.
The CPU currently offers the following: The Gordon Fisher Fellowship
This Fellowship, funded by the Alva Foundation and administered by the CPU,is awarded to one Commonwealth newspaper journalist each year, enabling the winner to spend a year at the University of Toronto doing postgraduate study in a field of his or her choosing.
The Harry Brittain Fellowship and the CPU Fellowship in International Journalism are on hold and therefore unavailable at this moment in time.
The Fellowship offers the opportunity to broaden
the vision of all journalists whose drive is to excel in their careers. The Fellowship opened up a whole new
world to me and was an invaluable opportunity for growth - professionally
and personally. An outstanding trip, a once in a lifetime opportunity - and, friendships that I hope will extend far beyond the six weeks. The socio-cultural diversity represented in the group was an eye opener on people from other nations. I have never met people from such diverse backgrounds before and this has helped me appreicate the idea of unity in diversity.
